The Gran Canarian poet Tomás Morales said about Calle Mayor de Triana that it was the “main aorta of the capital… wide, modern, rich and industrious…” And this neighborhood, which has the same name as its main street, was and is an important commercial area of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. All types of businesses are located in its streets, from beautiful boutiques to restaurants and terraces. It is one of the main open commercial areas of the city.
In this neighborhood, visitors will also be able to find emblematic buildings, squares and charming corners: the Literary Cabinet, a historical heritage monument, is the headquarters of a sociocultural association; the neighboring Alameda de Colón flanked by the church of San Francisco de Asís; the San Telmo park with its charming hermitage and an art nouveau style kiosk, the rationalist building that houses the Cabildo, the island’s political institution; and the Pérez Galdós museum and the theater of the same name.
