The Canarii or Canarians were the first settlers of the island. Coming from North Africa, they were of Berber origin, and developed agriculture, livestock and fishing. The Canary Museum is dedicated exclusively to the first Canarians and shows aspects of their living conditions, the stone industry, the religious and magical world, and also the preparation of a corpse, since they practiced mummification.
